Dolce Natale, senza zuccheri aggiunti

Con humor e sentimento, i King's Singers accendono l'atmosfera natalizia.
FIRENZE, 16 dicembe 2017 - In una giornata bigia e piovosa, i sei magici King’s Singers sono giunti in città per portarci l'oro delle loro voci, dolci pensieri, suoni incantevoli.
Sei voci magnifiche: Patrick Dunachie e Timothy Wayne-Wright, controtenori, Julian Gregory, tenore, Christopher Bruerton e Christopher Gabbitas, baritoni, e Jonathan Howard, bass, soni i King’s Singers in questo momenti.
Il mitico sestetto vocale festeggerà i suoi cinquant'anni nel 2018 e ha confezionato un programma che unisce pezzi moderni (testi di poeti contemporanei messi in musica da precedenti componenti del gruppo) e brani natalizi dei tempi passati.
Che si tratti di Gaudete , Veni veni Emmanuel o ancora di Maria durch ein Dornwald ging , ogni brano è stato interpretato con un gusto e una sinfonia perfetti. Il Carol of the Bells ci fa pensare alla tradizione inglese del carillon e ci si porebbe chiedere se uno dei venerandi ssistemi di suona le campane non abbia dato origine alla composizione. Suona fresca e lieta come una mattinata natalizia sotto una coltre di neve fresca. Alcune canzoni si discostano un po' dall'ambito della Natività, ma recano tutte un messaggio di gioia e pace. È assai emozionante e rinfrancante vedere dei giovani uomino dall'aria un po' "cool", tutti vestiti di neo con cravatte arcobaleno, così concentrati sulla loro arte e sul suo significato. Padroneggiano perfettamente quel lo stile britannico che miscela commedia e profondità d'emozioni così come lo riconosciamo con tanto piacere nella letteratura d'Oltre Manica.
La seconda parte del concerto è stata consacrata a una selezione natalizia statunitense, in "Close Harmony“. Ancora una volta, gli artisti hanno dimostrato la loro tecnica impeccabile, voci che si sposano a meraviglia, assoli risonanti, chiari e intensi. Spogliati da ogni sentimentalismo, cantati con ritmi inattesi o a una rapidità da mozzare il fiato, questi pessi poerano con sé gioia e allegria e il concerto termina con due bis e un uragano d'applausi e acclamazioni.
È stato un momento di gioia ed emozione, e, all'uscita, la notte era meno cupa. Lo spirito ravvivata da nuove luci.
Une douceur de Noël sans sucre ajouté

Florence, le 16 décembre 2017 - C’est lors d’une journée pluvieuse et sombre que les six magiques King’s Singers sont venus en ville, pour nous apporter l’or de leurs voix, des pensées douces et des sons enchanteurs.
Six voix magnifiques, Patrick Dunachie et Timothy Wayne-Wright, contre-ténors, Julian Gregory, ténor, Christopher Bruerton et Christopher Gabbitas, barytons, et Jonathan Howard, basse, sont les King’s Singers en ce moment.
Le sextuor vocal mythique fête ses 50 ans en 2018, et ils ont concocté un programme unissant des pièces modernes (textes par des poètes contemporains mis en musique par des anciens membres du groupe), et Noëls des temps anciens.
Que ce soit Gaudete , Veni veni Emmanuel ou encore Maria durch ein Dornwald ging , chaque chanson fut interprétée avec un goût et un sens du timing impeccable. Le Carol of the Bells nous faisait penser à la tradition anglaise du carillon, et l’on se demandait si une des méthodes vénérables de sonner les cloches pourrait se trouver à l’origine de la composition. Cela sonnait gai et frais, comme une matinée de Noël sous une couche de neige fraîche. Certaines chansons quittaient un peu le terrain de la Nativité, mais elle portaient toutes un message de joie et de paix. „ C ’était profondément émouvant et rafra î chissant de voir ces homme jeunes, à l’air un peu „cool“ , tout de noir vê tus avec des cravates en arc-en-ciel, ê tre si concentr és sur leur art et sa signification . Ils maitrisent parfaitement la façon britannique de mélanger comédie et profondeur des émotions que nous trouvons si souvent dans la littérature et le d’Outre-Manche avec tant de plaisir.
La seconde moitié du concert était consacré à une sélection de Noëls américains, chantés en „Close Harmony“. Encore une fois, les chanteurs démontraient leur technique parfaite, des voix se mariaient de façon merveilleuse, des solos résonnant clairs et intenses. Dénués de toute sentimentalité, chantés avec des rythmes inattendus ou à une vitesse à couper le souffle, ces chansons apportaient joie et allégresse et le concert se terminait après deux bis et un tonnerre d’applaudissements et acclamations.
Ce fut un moment de joies et d’émotions, et au retour, la nuit était moins sombre. Et l’espoir de lumières nouvelles ravivé.
A Sweet Sugar-free Christmas Treat

Florence, December 16, 2017 - On a rainy somber December day, the six King’s Singers have come to town, to bring us gold, sweet thoughts and lovely sounds. Six wonderful voices, Patrick Dunachie and Timothy Wayne-Wright, counter-tenors, Julian Gregory, tenor, Christopher Bruerton and Christopher Gabbitas, baritones, and Jonathan Howard, bass, are the contemporary King’s Singers. The mythical voice sextet is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2018, and they have cooked up a program that unites modern pieces by contemporary poets set to music by ancient King’s Singers and Christmas songs from through the centuries.
Be it Gaudete , Veni veni Emmanuel or Maria durch ein Dornwald ging , each song was interpreted with impeccable taste and timing. In the Carol of the Bells , one was reminded of the English tradition of change ringing, and one had to wonder if one of the venerable methods had been at the origin of the composition. Merry and bright it sounded, very much like a crisp Christmas morning. Some songs strayed a bit from the Christmas theme, but all conveyed a message of joy and peace. It was deeply moving to see these young men, so fresh and fun in their black suits and a rainbow of ties, so committed to their art and its contents. They master to perfection the British way of blending comedy and depth of feeling that we find so often in Britain’s cinema and literature.
The second half of the concert was dedicated to a selection of American Christmas songs in close harmony. Again, the singers showed their perfect technique, voices blending marvelously together, solos ringing out clear and intense. Shorn of the least bit of sentimentality, sung with unexpected rhythms or at breakneck speed, these songs brought fun and cheer to the house, and the concert ended after two encores and enthusiastic applause and cheering.
A lovely time was had by all and on our way home, the night was less gloomy and hope had been rekindled of new lights to come.
