Barenboim lascia per motivi di salute

Il 6 gennaio 2023, Daniel Barenboim ha annunciato le sue dimissioni da GMD (Generalmusickdirektor) della Staatsoper Unter den Linden di Berlino, carica che ricopriva dal 1992.

Ecco le sue parole

ITALIANO "Purtroppo, la mia salute è peggiorata notevolmente nell'ultimo anno. Non posso più fornire le prestazioni giustamente richieste a un direttore musicale. Quindi chiedo comprensione la vostra comprensione nel dimettermi dal 31 Gennaio 2023 da questa carica e chiedo al Senatore della Cultura di rescindere il contratto dalla data sopra indicata.

Dal 1992 sono il direttore musicale della Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin. Gli anni ci hanno ispirati musicalmente e umanamente sotto ogni aspetto. Penso che per me e la Staatsoper sia stata una fortuna reciproca. Sono particolarmente felice e orgoglioso che la Staatskapelle mi abbia scelto come direttore èrincipale a vita. Siamo diventati e rimarremo una famiglia musicale nel corso degli anni. Apprezzo tutti i membri della Staatskapelle, anche quelli che ora sono andati in pensione. Ma esprimo anche la mia ammirazione per i cantanti, i componenti del coro e tutto lo staff dell'Opera di Stato, soprattutto per la mia assistente personale Antje Werkmeister.

Mi ha anche fatto particolarmente piacere che la Cancelliera Angela Merkel e il Presidente del Bundestag Wolfgang Schäuble mi abbiano accompagnato così piacevolmente. Ringrazio anche il senatore per la cultura Klaus Lederer che mi è stato accanto anche nei momenti difficili. Naturalmente, io - finché avrò vita - resto strettamente connesso alla musica e sono pronto a proseguire la mia attività come direttore d'orchestra in futuro, anche e specialmente con la Staatskapelle. "

DEUTSCH »Leider hat sich mein Gesundheitszustand im letzten Jahr deutlich verschlechtert. Ich kann die Leistung nicht mehr erbringen, die zu Recht von einem Generalmusikdirektor verlangt wird. Deshalb bitte ich um Verständnis, dass ich zum 31. Januar 2023 diese Tätigkeit aufgebe. Ich bitte den Kultursenator um Auflösung des Vertrages zwischen uns zum genannten Zeitpunkt.

Seit 1992 wirke ich als Generalmusikdirektor der Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin. Die Jahre haben uns musikalisch und menschlich in jeder Hinsicht beflügelt. Ich glaube, dass die Staatsoper und ich füreinander ein großes Glück waren. Froh und stolz macht mich insbesondere, dass die Staatskapelle mich als Chefdirigenten auf Lebenszeit gewählt hat. Wir sind über die Jahre eine musikalische Familie geworden und werden diese auch bleiben. Ich schätze alle Mitglieder der Staatskapelle, auch jene, die inzwischen ausgeschieden sind. Ich drücke aber auch meine Verehrung für die Sängerinnen und Sänger, die Mitglieder des Chores und alle weiteren Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter der Staatsoper aus, insbesondere für meine persönliche Mitarbeiterin Antje Werkmeister.

Besonders erfreut war ich auch, dass die Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel und der Bundestagspräsident Wolfgang Schäuble mich so angenehm begleiteten. Ich danke auch dem Senator für Kultur Klaus Lederer, der auch in schwierigen Zeiten zu mir stand. Selbstverständlich bleibe ich - solange ich lebe - mit der Musik engstens verbunden und bin bereit, auch künftig als Dirigent zu wirken, auch und gerade mit der Staatskapelle Berlin.«

ENGLISH »Unfortunately, my health has deteriorated significantly over the past year. I can no longer provide the level of performance that is rightly demanded of a general music director. Therefore, I ask for your understanding that I am giving up this position as of 31 January 2023. I ask the Senator for Culture to terminate the contract between us on that date.

Since 1992 I have served as General Music Director of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin. The years have inspired us musically and personally in every respect. I believe that the Staatsoper and I have been very fortunate for each other. I am particularly happy and proud that the Staatskapelle has chosen me as its principal conductor for life. We have become a musical family over the years and will remain so. I hold all the members of the Staatskapelle in high esteem, even those who have since left. But I also express my admiration for the singers, the members of the chorus and all the other staff of the State Opera, especially my personal assistant Antje Werkmeister.

I was particularly pleased that the Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and the President of the Bundestag Wolfgang Schäuble accompanied me so wonderfully. I also thank the Senator for Culture Klaus Lederer, who stood by me even in difficult times.

Of course, I will remain closely connected to music - as long as I live - and am prepared to continue to conduct in the future, also and especially the Staatskapelle Berlin.«
